Wedding Planning Advice from The Grange
Planning a wedding is an exciting journey, but we know it can also feel overwhelming at times
Wedding Planning Advice
With so many decisions to make, from setting a budget to choosing the flowers, it helps to have expert guidance along the way.
At The Grange, we’ve hosted countless weddings and celebrations, and we’re here to share our experience to help you plan the day of your dreams.
Start with a Vision
Before you dive into the details, take some time to imagine the feeling of your day. Do you dream of an intimate, romantic gathering or a large, vibrant celebration? Are you drawn to classic elegance, modern minimalism, or a fusion of cultural traditions? Having a clear vision will guide every other decision you make.
Your Planning Checklist
Every wedding is unique, but here is a general timeline to help you stay on track:
12+ Months Before
Set a Budget: Discuss contributions and agree on a realistic overall budget. This is the most important first step.
Create a Guest List: Having a rough idea of numbers will help you choose the right venue.
Choose Your Venue: This key decision sets the date and style for your whole wedding. Visit us at The Grange to see our spaces!
9-12 Months Before
Book Key Suppliers: Secure your photographer, caterer (if not provided by your venue), and entertainment.
Choose Your Attire: Start looking for your wedding dress and suits. Remember, orders can take months to arrive.
Think About Your Styling: Begin gathering ideas for flowers, colours, and décor that match your vision.
6-9 Months Before
Send Save the Dates: Give your guests plenty of notice, especially if many will be travelling.
Arrange Accommodation: If needed, book rooms or reserve a block of rooms at a local hotel for you and your guests.
Plan Your Menu: If your venue offers catering (like we do at The Grange), start thinking about your wedding breakfast and evening food.
3-6 Months Before
Order Invitations: Design, order, and address your formal invitations.
Book Final Suppliers: Arrange hair and makeup artists, and confirm all details with your photographer and other vendors.
Plan Legalities: Ensure all paperwork for your marriage license or religious ceremony is in order.
1-2 Months Before
Finalise Details: Confirm final guest numbers with your venue and caterer. Share your seating plan and dietary requirements.
Have Your Final Fittings: Attend your final dress and suit fittings.
Create a Timeline: Work with your venue coordinator and photographer to create a detailed schedule for the day.
The Final Weeks
Confirm with Suppliers: Contact all your vendors one last time to confirm timings and locations.
Pack Your Wedding Bags: Prepare everything you’ll need for the day and your honeymoon.
Relax and Get Excited: The planning is almost done. Now it’s time to look forward to your special day!
